About Me
I was born in Trinidad, grew up in Montreal, QC, and now reside in Toronto, ON. I grew up in a family music business, so I was exposed to both (music, and business) from a young age. With the experience and skills I’ve developed over the years, I’ve decided to embark on this journey of starting my own business. I have ideas for future projects, but we’re taking things step-by-step. (Including the development of this website)
Passion for Bookkeeping
My passion for bookkeeping came out of nowhere! One random day (12 years ago), I decided to take an accounting course, not sure what it was about, but after a few classes, I felt a ‘click’. The satisfaction that comes from handling a lot of data, and having everything balance at the end… makes you feel like a champ! Since then, I’ve done bookkeeping for small business owners. I recently went back to school at York University, to enhance my skills. I participated in some internships, and this is when I developed the confidence to start my business. Big thanks to the companies who supported me!
Passion for Steelpan
I’ve know Steelpan for as long as I can remember. It’s always been a part of my life. From my first performance at the age of 7, playing the Canadian anthem for a local baseball game, to performing with my family, traveling, teaching, putting on events, organizing programs and summer camps, and participating in domestic, national, and international competitions, came a lot of fun memories. I did a research project on Steelpan, which helped me to appreciate the history and culture even more. So I want to contribute by sharing my beautiful culture with everyone.
Passion for Community
I’ve always had a passion for helping out in the community. It was fun growing up, and now I want to give back however I can.
Being involved in Steelpan created opportunities for me to be active in the community. I remember the activities and events organized by community centres, and them being places to meet other youths. Even our Steelpan Academy created fun memories for our students to look back on. So I would like to continue in this direction, and hopefully create fond memories for my children and other families and youths. I have a few things in progress, and a few on the way!
